Victoria Day Long Weekend

Date: May 16 – 18, 2020

Contact: Sandra Riches, Executive Director & BC Coordinator, BC AdventureSmart 604.671.2241 / execdirector@adventuresmartbc.ca

Media requests welcome.

The May long weekend is the ‘kick off to summer’ for BC and we know you’re ready for it!

As we transition to the next stages of our new normal, lets find a new normal outdoors;

  • Make a difference; #knowbeforeyougo
  • Be prepared for emergencies.
  • Make smart (‘AdventureSmart’) choices.

Exploring BC locally offers everyone easily accessible trails and parks, that easy access often gives outdoor enthusiasts a false sense of security.  Don’t be fooled, easy access doesn’t always mean easy terrain, easy routes or easy adventures.

No one ever expects to get into trouble outdoors.  But, a turn in the weather, mistake in judgement, unexpected injury or an equipment failure can quickly change any recreation outing into a crisis.

Your trip safety can mean the difference between a successful outcome and becoming a statistic.

Your trip safety can mean the difference between a search and rescue volunteer spending their long weekend with their family and friends, or not.

Together, our investment in safety will make a difference.
