The once all volunteer organization now has three full-time staff to help the BC Search and Rescue Association (BCSARA) achieve its mandate to help BC’s 79 search and rescue groups in the province access funding for training, provide occupational health and safety support, educate the public on outdoor safety and act as a common link to information and resources for search and rescue practitioners across BC.

Nancy Barbour

Nancy Barbour joined the team in early December as the Manager of Finance and Administration. She comes to the organization with a wealth of financial and project management knowledge as well as excellent technical skills. Her first task is to help set up BCSARA’s new office in downtown Sidney, BC.

Martin McRae

Martin McRae joined the team in mid-December as BCSARA”s Safety and Training Coordinator. Martin comes to us with extensive background in training and safety programs as the Training Captain for Toronto and North Kawartha fire services. Martin is a member of the Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue team.

The above staff join the Senior Manager, announced in September 2019.

With the addition of these two extremely capable staff, BCSARA is set to help BC’s volunteer
search and rescue community to continue to provide the valuable services it does throughout
the province.
